MT RUSHMORE BIRDS and PAWS PET BAKERY and GIFTS are located in the same Pet store in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota, at 910 West Main.  The owners, Patrick and Barbara Paur are Certified Avian Specialists by the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council; and together have more than 45 years of professional experience working with parrots and dogs.  They own and operate South Dakota’s Premier  Breeding and Educational Aviary on their ranch north of the city.

Whether you’re an experienced bird enthusiast or considering your first pet, we’re here for you before and after your purchase.  As reputable breeders, we take the time to see that the parrot is compatible with you and your family’s lifestyle; and that you become well versed in the needs of your pet.   We encourage and promote the highest standards in the daily care of your pets.  References are gladly provided.

Pride is taken in the many hours spent in the important process of hand feeding and socializing the baby parrots until they’re placed in your care; and we follow-up with continuing education and helpful tips as needed.

Our showroom at 910 West Main  features a large sidewalk  display area with Macaws and African Grey parrots on their play stations throughout the day.  We offer a very wide selection of toys, cages, healthy bird food and accessories including play stands, swings, trees and educational materials.

Most of our clients take advantage of our professional grooming including wings, beaks and nails; and  parrot  boarding is also available at Mt Rushmore Birds.  DNA testing is also available.

We invite you to stop in at the store and meet Misty, our Umbrella Cockatoo.  She’s truly an amazing parrot and is always eager to play ball or just hang out and talk.  Misty is certified as a Pet Therapy Bird.
